Pioneers too hot for Chile

Richmond Pioneers 10 Team Chile 0. The rampaging Richmond Pioneers hit double figures with a 10-0 defeat of Team Chile. Ken Johnston got the scoring underway early in the game, with the first of his three goals, his second hat-trick of the season. Graham Mason added a second Pioneer goal soon after, courtesy of a great 'dummy' by Jimmy Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald would add the third, as he hammered home from an acute angle. By now the game had degenerated into a heavily one-sided game, and before the half, Johnston added his second, and supersub "Gario" Byrne was awarded the fifth goal, although video replay clearly showed Johnston's shot was three feet over the line before Byrne buried it.

The second half lacked any competitive edge, but was highlighted by a John Tsang hat-trick and a 'stunning' half volley from Tony McBride, his first marker of the season. The game tempo slowed down to a crawl, until referee Jimmy Sommerville mercifully blew the final whistle.

The Pioneers remain unbeaten at home. The stats page reveals that both John Tsang and Graham Mason are on four game scoring streaks, and the team has only conceded 9 goals in the last 7 games.
