May 21-23, 2005
Vernon National Old Timers Soccer Tournament

Richmond 0 Chilliwack 2
Richmond 3 Surrey Classics 1
Richmond 2 Mission 1
Consolation Final:
Richmond 1 South Hill 0

The Richmond Pioneers made their annual trip to the Okanagan to participate in the Vernon Old Timers Soccer tournament, in the Over 50 age group. A core group of Pioneer players were joined by guest players from Stingers, Britannia, BC Transit, Cliff Avenue, Richmond United and Burnaby Lions.

The Pioneers got off to a disasterous start, losing to Chilliwack in the opening game, despite dominating the game for long periods.

Next up was arch rival Surrey Classics, unbeaten in two years. Richmond produced a solid team performance, putting three goals past Surrey for a satisfying 3-1 victory.

The final group game against Mission saw Richmond seeking maximum points as a number of teams were contesting a place in the final. The 2-1 victory meant the Pioneers had to resign themselves to a place in the Consolation Final on Monday.

The Consolation Final was against South Hill, and a single goal was all it took to secure the third place prize money.
