He Shoots, He Scores! Mogul Magic.

Richmond Pioneers 8 Trafalgar 0. The Pioneers enjoyed a leisurely 8-0 romp over Trafalgar at McMath to bring the winter season to a satisfying finale.

A hat trick for Eugene Kishmere, two from Stan Bogdanovich and single goals from David Chan and Ben Fung were just icing on the cake.

The moment of the match came when Mike Mogul stepped up to take a penalty kick with the game still goalless. For a man on a 20 year goal scoring drought—carrying a monkey the size of King Kong on his back—Mogul 'the iceman' stepped up to calmly strike the kick past the hapless Trafalgar keeper, with a confidence that belied the enormity of the occasion.

The Pioneers ended the season on an unbeaten run of nine games. Although unbeaten at home, the Pioneers were only .500 on the road, losing four times.

Including Penticton, the Pioneers came agonizingly close to the century mark, scoring 98 goals during the season. Ken Johnston gets the Golden Boot Award for his 25 goals.

- Based in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada, the Pioneers play in the Over 50 Division of the BCOTS (BC Old Timers Soccer league). The division has 40 teams from all over the Lower Mainland region.
